Sidney Richard Percy
Sidney Richard Percy (1821–1886) was a British landscape painter, and a key member of the Williams family of painters, often referred to as the Barnes School. Born Sidney Richard Percy Williams in London, he was the son of the notable painter Edward Williams. Percy specialized in idyllic landscapes, often depicting scenes of the English countryside, particularly the rugged beauty of Wales and Scotland. His work is characterized by its careful attention to detail and its atmospheric depictions of nature, blending Romanticism with elements of the emerging Realist movement.
Percy achieved considerable success during his lifetime, exhibiting at the Royal Academy and other major British institutions. His paintings were highly sought after by collectors, and today, his works can be found in both private collections and major galleries, including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
