Peder Severin Krøyer
Peder Severin Krøyer (1851–1909), often referred to as P.S. Krøyer, was a prominent Danish painter and one of the most celebrated members of the Skagen Painters, a group of Scandinavian artists who gathered in the northern Danish town of Skagen. Krøyer was known for his vibrant depictions of the Danish coast and the light-filled, sunlit scenes of summer evenings by the sea. His works often focused on social gatherings, plein air painting, and scenes that combined the natural landscape with intimate portrayals of friends and family.
Krøyer's artistic style was influenced by French Impressionism, and he became known for his mastery of light and color. He exhibited widely across Europe and was highly regarded during his lifetime. Today, his works are considered treasures of Danish national art and are housed in major institutions such as the Skagens Museum and the National Gallery of Denmark.
