Otto Eerelman
Otto Eerelman (1839–1926) was a Dutch painter known for his detailed and realistic depictions of animals, particularly horses and dogs, as well as for his portraits of members of the Dutch royal family. Born in Groningen, Eerelman studied at the Academy Minerva and later in Paris. His works are characterized by their meticulous attention to detail and lifelike portrayals of his subjects. Eerelman's equestrian portraits became especially popular in the Netherlands, and he received numerous commissions from the Dutch aristocracy.
Eerelman also gained recognition for his illustrations of dogs, which were featured in books and widely circulated prints. His works are now held in Dutch museums and private collections, where they continue to be celebrated for their technical skill and charm. Eerelman’s paintings are part of the Rijksmuseum and the Groninger Museum collections.
