Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld
Jean-Joseph-Xavier Bidauld (1758–1846) was a French landscape painter known for his neoclassical style. Born in Carpentras, Bidauld initially trained as a decorative painter before transitioning to landscape painting. His work was heavily influenced by his travels throughout France and Italy, where he captured the serene beauty of nature with precision and clarity.
Bidauld was a member of the neoclassical movement and emphasized order, harmony, and detail in his landscapes. He was one of the first landscape painters to be admitted to the French Academy, and his works were exhibited at the Salon. Today, Bidauld’s paintings are held in major French collections, including the Louvre and the Musée d'Orsay.
