Ivan Shishkin
Ivan Shishkin (1832–1898) was a Russian landscape painter and one of the leading figures of the Russian realist movement. Born in Yelabuga, Russia, Shishkin studied at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture before attending the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. He is best known for his highly detailed and expansive depictions of Russian forests, often celebrating the beauty and majesty of the natural world. His works are characterized by their realism, with a focus on meticulous detail and the accurate portrayal of trees, grass, and landscapes.
Shishkin’s paintings capture the essence of the Russian wilderness, emphasizing both its grandeur and its tranquility.
