Edward Burne-Jones
Edward Burne-Jones (1833–1898) was a British painter, designer, and key figure in the Pre-Raphaelite movement, known for his ethereal and highly romanticized depictions of classical and mythological themes. Born in Birmingham, Burne-Jones initially intended to pursue a career in the church but changed his path after meeting Dante Gabriel Rossetti, a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Rossetti's influence, combined with Burne-Jones' fascination with medieval and Renaissance art, led him to embrace painting and design, where he developed a style characterized by dreamlike imagery, intricate detail, and a strong sense of melancholy and beauty.
Burne-Jones' paintings are often populated by graceful, elongated figures, typically set within mythological or allegorical narratives.
