Alfred Glendening
Alfred Augustus Glendening (1840–1921) was a British landscape painter, known for his detailed depictions of the English countryside and coastal scenes. Born in London, Glendening worked as a railway clerk before fully dedicating himself to painting. He exhibited regularly at the Royal Academy from 1865 onwards. Glendening’s works are characterized by their lush, detailed portrayal of rural landscapes, particularly in the counties of Kent and Surrey. His romanticized vision of the English countryside, combined with careful attention to color and texture, made his work popular among collectors during his lifetime. Today, his works are held in British galleries and private collections.
